Aimée DesOrmeaux-Lewis

Aimée (not Amy)

The name’s Aimée. Not Amy. Pronounced Em-Aye, or like saying the letters M and A.  NY-grown, VT-dweller. I don’t have a fancy degree in fashion, journalism, culinary arts, or even music, for that matter. My degree is in the lesson of life. Aside from being a blogger, I’m a singer. You’ll hear me from time to time.

The Thick & Thrifty blog began as a style blog in January 2012. It’s slowly becoming more than that. I’m not just a thick girl with good style. I wear clothes. I do awesome things. I meet great people. I cook delicious food. I visit great places. I don’t have an immense amount of $$$ to spend, and neither do I profit from this blog — yet. I’m your not-so-average average woman. I’m all about living simply, enjoying the best things in life. My motto: Be strong. Be beautiful. Be fabulous.

Nissa Sutphen

I’m a wife to my wonderful hubby Robin and mommy to my oh-so-cute daughter Nora (born February 2011). Before becoming a mommy, I was a passionate teacher who absolutely loved her students. Mommyhood is the  most rewarding and yet most challenging job I’ve ever had, and I relish being able to connect with other mom’s to talk, share experiences, and have fun with!

I was born and raised in Florida but have truly found my home in my husband’s hometown of Burlington, VT. I love soaking in our beautiful surroundings, long walks downtown and at the waterfront, playing with my daughter at Battery Park, family bike rides, and going on local adventures on my husband’s days off. On rainy or snowy days you can find me reading a good book, attempting to complete one of the projects on my ever growing craft and DIY list (thanks Pinterest), or trying to find new and creative ways to entertain Nora.

Valerie Pallotta

Valerie Pallotta has been studying aromatherapy since 1994. She received her Master’s Apprenticeship certificate through the Northwest College for Herbal & Aromatic Studies in 2004 (formerly the Institute of dynamic Aromatherapy). Valerie has lectured on Aromatherapy at the University of Vermont, the Burlington Breast Cancer Conference, the Vermont National Guard and the Burlington, Vermont area.

Since Valerie’s son joined the Vermont Army National Guard in 2009, her focus has evolved to supporting our Troops, their families and our Veterans. She is currently
researching resources to study the effects of aromatherapy in alleviating the symptoms of PTSD.

Valerie’s passion is to assist clients in developing a holistic aromatherapy program to balance body, mind and spirit. As it has been said, our body, mind and spirit are like the legs of a stool. When one is out of balance, so are the rest and the stool falls.
